At Kore MD Health and Wellness, our Atlanta, Georgia team can permanently reduce unwanted or excess hair. Such diode laser hair reduction or removal is also appropriate for many treatment sites. It may even be used safely and effectively on delicate areas of the face, such as above the lips and between the eyebrows. For those who want to achieve lasting smoothness on the body, Dr. Nicole Battaglioli and our team are happy to provide you with four considerations specific to this need for treatment.

No. 1: “Treatable” areas of the body

We can treat almost any body area that bothers you due to persistent, excess, or unwanted hair. Areas that may be treated include smaller, sensitive spots (like the bikini line) and bigger sites, such as the back, chest, arms, and legs.

No. 2: Timing

Dr. Battaglioli has invested in the 810 nm diode laser. The laser works by generating energy that is then absorbed by the pigment-producing cells in the targeted hair shafts and follicles. As this process occurs, the treated cells are damaged. Hair can no longer grow back at the treatment site. Due to how hair grows (in cycles), more than one treatment session is required. It may take up to six to eight treatment sessions. But, this time commitment is well worth it to get sustained hair reduction and true, silky, smooth skin, especially for our patients who spend so much time and money constantly removing excess hair from large and/or sensitive areas of their bodies.

No. 3: Treatment session duration

One of the beautiful things about laser hair reduction is its efficiency. Laser hair reduction is not a painstaking process compared to other “permanent” solutions, such as electrolysis. Many follicles can be treated at one time. So, it requires less time commitment during each treatment session. With electrolysis, each follicle must be treated – one at a time. This not only adds to the demands that are placed on your already busy schedule but also adds to costs. We minimize total treatment time and costs with this convenient, fast, and comparatively comfortable alternative. Remember that you will still need to set aside more time for larger areas or for treating multiple areas versus when you may have treated a small part of your face or a single spot.

No. 4: Results

Every patient’s journey to hair reduction is unique. The results you get from treatment and when you see them depend on many personal factors. These include the color and thickness of your hair and your skin type. The FDA notes that, on average, patients achieve a 70% reduction in hair at the treated sites after completing their initial treatment series. These treatments are largely spaced four to eight weeks apart, here again, to account for the cyclical pattern of hair growth. After that, an annual “touch-up” session at Kore MD Health and Wellness is all it takes to maintain your new and confident look. If you are tired of fruitlessly trying to control unwanted hair on the body (and/or face), contact us today.
