What do you mean by “facial peel”?
Do not fear the terminology! Here, we are simply referring to the application of a customized solution or formulation to your skin. These formulations are made up of lots of skin-boosting ingredients. Once applied, they exfoliate or lift off damaged and dead skin cells. This process reveals new, unblemished skin cells underneath. Think of it as a way to peel away years of cumulative damage from UV radiation and other sources.
What damage do you treat with peels?
This service effectively improves or eliminates many concerns. These concerns range from discoloration like “age spots” to dry, leathery skin, active acne (and scars), and fine lines and wrinkles.
How do you treat my skin with this service?
If we determine that peels are appropriate for you, a solution carefully selected by Dr. Battaglioli is applied to the areas of concern. These solutions not only promote healthy cell turnover but also help to renew firming collagen and springy elastin. The latter benefit aids in “filling in” depressions, such as scars and folds, for a smoother complexion.

What can I expect afterward?
Peels are such a versatile procedure because so many formulations may be used. The ingredients and concentrations vary. Some peels may be considered “lunchtime” procedures. These superficial treatments affect the outermost layer of the skin. Deeper peels penetrate the dermal layer underneath the epidermis (surface skin). The former peels can be completed quickly, with no downtime, and are appropriate for all skin types and tones. The latter peels can treat severe wrinkling, laxity, scarring, and other more extensive damage to the skin. While they often support dramatic improvements, they do require downtime and recovery and are not right for everyone. Additionally, lighter peels may require several treatments to get desired results (and to keep those results), whereas deeper peels get results that can last for years after just one treatment.
