Neurotoxins like Botox® Cosmetic are generally associated with treating expression lines in the upper portion of the face. However, while they soften forehead lines and frown lines very well (when in good hands), the effects and benefits of these injections do not stop there. Board-certified physician Dr. Nicole Battaglioli is pleased to acquaint you with four-plus applications of this powerful, time-tested wrinkle-fighter at the office of Kore MD Health and Wellness in Atlanta, Georgia.

No. 1: Glabellar lines

When the FDA first approved Botox® Cosmetic in 2002, it was indicated solely for treating adults with moderate to severe glabellar lines. These lines, better known as “frown lines,” refer to the vertical creases between the eyebrows in the glabella area. The glabella relates to the skin between the nose and brows. Unlike other expression lines, glabellar lines result from specific facial habits or movements; in this case, they develop from repeated frowning and expressions of worry. In youthful skin, these creases are only present when you frown or worry. However, as skin loses its firmness and elasticity, these lines may become a permanent feature of your face – making you look “chronically” angry or upset.

No. 2: Forehead lines

Any expressions that cause your forehead to crease, such as those made when deeply concentrating or expressing surprise, can result in these horizontal lines. Without treatment, forehead lines can become quite deep and a very noticeable and defined feature of your face. Injecting Botox® Cosmetic into the exact muscles responsible for these facial expressions smooths out wrinkles and furrows. Botox® and other neurotoxins like it relax the muscles to smooth skin on the forehead and other face and neck areas.

No. 3: Crow’s feet

The FDA has approved Botox® for use on the wispy lines that extend outward from the eyes. These lines, or “crow’s feet,” are associated with expressions such as squinting and smiling. Unlike other treatment sites mentioned here, they arise and worsen due to changes deep within the skin as part of aging. The effects of UV/sun exposure and other lifestyle and environmental factors also contribute, causing these lines to show up or become more defined prematurely. You may look older than your chronological years due to them, but fortunately, our team at Kore MD can naturally rejuvenate your face with Botox® in a short, well-tolerated appointment. Results last four to six months, and we can work with you to support your healthiest, most attractive-looking skin for life.

No. 4: Platysma bands and more

Botox® was most recently approved for use on the neck to treat the moderate to severe vertical, rope-like bands that stretch from underneath the chin to the collarbone. When in the right hands, Botox® may restore a balanced, softer appearance and facial shape to a jawline that has become distorted or overly bulky due to conditions like bruxism (teeth grinding). As the jaw muscles become overworked, a formerly oval-shaped jawline may become heavy in appearance and no longer in proportion with the rest of the face.
