Professional facial peels are among the most versatile aesthetic procedures available at the office of Kore MD Health and Wellness. Led by Dr. Nicole Battaglioli, our team in Atlanta, Georgia, can customize the solution to encourage beneficial “peeling.” The specific formulation applied to your face depends on several personal factors, ranging from your skin type to your needs or goals for treatment. Four of these concerns are highlighted below and only represent a glimpse into some of the ways peels can transform the appearance and texture of your skin.

No. 1: Fine lines and wrinkles

The peel’s power resides in its ability to stimulate the production of fresh skin cells. In youthful skin, cell turnover is fast and healthy. The new cells travel up to the skin’s surface promptly. As this process occurs, the old and damaged cells are sloughed off. As we age, it takes longer for cell turnover to occur. The dead cells may build up on the surface of the skin. By stimulating “regrowth,” the skin that grows back appears smoother. Lines and wrinkles look softer.

No. 2: Active acne and acne scars

Clogged pores are to blame for breakouts. Chemical peels can have a pore-cleansing effect. In doing so, they may reduce the frequency and severity of breakouts. Additionally, the clearing of dead or old skin cells also promotes healthy, clear skin. If painful reminders of past breakouts remain on your skin, we can also improve the appearance of such scarring with peels. The peel may be customized to lighten any hyperpigmentation or dark discoloration associated with the scar and may even help with textural irregularities. For instance, peels may be recommended to smooth out atrophic or depressed scars, which may appear as small, pinprick spots, crater-like indentations, and/or wide and shallow dips in the skin.

No. 3: Uneven skin tone, poor texture

Skin tone may refer to imbalances or inconsistencies in the overall color and texture of the skin. For instance, you may have areas of flushing, redness, and dryness. Balance is beautiful. We can even out your skin’s tone and get it baby-soft with personalized professional peel services. The goal is to slough off the damaged skin cells to promote the new, unblemished cells. These new cells also support a softer texture to the skin and an appearance that looks healthier and less “leathery.” More gentle or “superficial” peels may be recommended to minimize the risk of flaking during the process, especially among those with already dry or sensitive skin.

No. 4: Sun damage, hyperpigmentation (brown spots)

Damage to the skin from exposure to harmful UV radiation from the sun/artificial sources (like tanning beds) comes in many different forms. These signs of sun damage include areas of discoloration that are darker than the surrounding, healthy skin. Chemical peels may be used, in turn, to combat everything from freckles and “age spots” to stubborn melasma that can appear as grayish patches on sun-exposed areas. Unlike many skincare creams and formulations, professional services like peels penetrate deeply to treat the sources of these skin troubles. They removed the damaged tissues to allow your skin at the treatment sites to start anew.

With appropriate and personalized skincare at Kore MD Health and Wellness office, you can maintain the results from these highly versatile procedures.
