Even with the introduction of weight loss medications to manage one’s comorbidities and risks of developing conditions like Type 2 diabetes, the truth remains that we are, in many ways, what we eat. Without a healthy diet and nutrition guidance, no sound, medically managed weight loss program would be complete. You cannot have one without the other, as a healthy lifestyle must complement these interventions. You can only achieve true wellness and sustain a healthy weight that promotes overall health.

What can I expect during an initial visit?

Your first visit to the office of Kore MD Health and Wellness in Atlanta, Georgia, is a critical one. During this appointment, our board-certified obesity medicine specialist, Dr. Nicole Battaglioli, will give you a feel for your “starting point.” We cannot develop strategies to support healthy and sustained weight loss until we thoroughly understand your health status and factors that may have contributed to your current health and situation. We take a complete and comprehensive view, knowing that your health and goals are driven by much more than “just” the number on that scale. A history must be accounted for, including many deep-seated habits and behaviors. Our strategies help resolve potentially destructive or “bad” habits and promote and develop new, good ones.

Why do most diets fail?

For starters, we encourage you not merely to view our partnership as a diet. This is a comprehensive, medically-managed program to achieve a healthy weight, reduce your risk factors for disease, and keep that weight off. These programs have a higher degree of success. Now, going at it alone can be not easy. Even if you manage to lose some weight, you may find yourself struggling to keep it off. You may also end up in a yo-yo dieting situation that is not sustainable and a big stressor for your body and overall mental and emotional health and wellbeing.

With medically-managed weight loss, you benefit from the experience and expertise of an obesity medicine specialist. You can trust that Dr. Battaglioli’s guidance and recommendations for everything from meals to exercise are sound. Additionally, there is ongoing oversight. This matters a great deal because our programs have built-in accountability. You never feel like you are foundering on your island. Trusted support is invaluable to prevent you from falling into traps that may sabotage your weight loss goals and to keep your spirits buoyed when you face setbacks or feel that your goals have plateaued.

What foods might be best for me?

No diet or food suggestion is appropriate for each person undergoing medically managed weight loss. We need to include healthy and nutritious foods that you enjoy eating. There should also be some built-in flexibility because inflexible programs are simply a recipe for failure. The balance of foods and their nutritional content is also a fundamental consideration. Of course, balance must also be considered in the context of how much you are spending or your physical activity and exercise. Some diets or foods may also be appropriate for individuals with underlying conditions that may have contributed to obesity, such as thyroid problems.

Don’t go at it alone or fall prey to another fad diet. Take control of your health today. Call (404) 623-2143 to schedule your consultation with Dr. Battaglioli at the office of Kore MD Health and Wellness in Atlanta, Georgia.
